Quick Take: Tech Print Industries (TPI), founded in 2016 by Peter and David Friedfeld, co-owners of ClearVision Optical and Marc Notenboom, OD, and later joined by Klaas Nienhuis, a 3D specialist, has launched three new optical collections of 3D printed eyewear as part of its CLR3D line. In addition, TPI will reveal its updated facial scanning technology tool at the ClearVision booth 1621 at Vision Expo East.
Specifics: The newest updates to TPI’s facial scanning technology includes new and improved 3D facial scanning and mapping, virtual try-on and artificial intelligence capabilities that can map the patient’s facial morphology and provide eyewear recommendations based on facial shape and biometrics. The new 3D printed optical frames feature an ultra-smooth finish and can weigh as little as four grams. TPI is also testing limited runs of full-color 3D printing and the application of intricate, full-color patterns printed directly onto the eyewear.
Selling Point: Marc Notenoom, OD, designer and inventor at TPI said, “We are excited about the opportunities that 3D printing brings to the optical industry. This technology and product is ideal for eyecare providers with discerning or non-standard fit clients, as well as providers that are passionate about creating environmental sustainability within their business. We are also actively seeking eyecare practitioners who are innovative and interested in offering a cutting-edge, experience-based retail purchase process for their customers.”
