OAK BROOK, Ill.—King-Devick technologies, inc. (KDt), a provider of digital diagnostic monitoring and remediation software tools, has announced the appointment of Millicent Knight, OD, and Len Messner, OD, to its board of directors. Both bring extensive expertise in health care and join well-known executive leaders and experts in neurology who are currently on the company’s board of directors, according to the announcement. “I appreciate that Drs. Knight and Messner have accepted positions on our board,” said Steve Devick, OD, CEO and chairman of KDt. “Len is a well-recognized expert regarding all ocular/neurological conditions, and Millie has been an immensely accomplished senior executive in major ophthalmic corporations.”

According to the company, KDt’s products have been validated in more than 225 peer-reviewed articles, addressing reading performance in addition to 16 different neurological conditions, including concussion management, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), Huntington’s disease and most recently, migraine.

Dr. Messner is the vice president for strategy and institutional advancement at the Illinois College of Optometry and holds the rank of professor of optometry. He is the immediate past chair of the Neuro-ophthalmic Disorders Special Interest Group of the American Academy of Optometry and serves on several advisory boards, including the Concussion Legacy Foundation. With more than 150 peer-reviewed publications to his name, he has received numerous accolades, according to the announcement, including the 2013 Optometrist of the Year in Illinois and the Presidential Medal of Honor from Salus University in 2019.

 
A former health care executive at EssilorLuxottica, Johnson & Johnson Vision, private practice owner and ophthalmology/optometry co-management clinician, Dr. Knight is a well-versed visionary leader and patient advocate. She has served on the National Advisory Eye Council and has received multiple awards, including the 2023 American Optometric Association President’s Distinguished Service Award, the 2022 National Optometric Association’s Living Legend and Trailblazer awards and the 2011 Optometrist of the Year in Illinois, according to the announcement.
