VERNON HILLS, Ill.—Europa Eyewear has announced the promotion of two of their sales representatives. Derrick Stinnett has been promoted to director of sales operations and Doug Pelkey has been promoted to business development manager. In his role as director of sales operations, Stinnett will continue to lead his regional team, while also helping to develop and implement strategies to support overall sales efforts. Stinnett joined Europa seven years ago, and has excelled as a sales representative and as a regional sales manager, the company said. “I am excited to take on this role as director of sales operations and focus on enhancing our sales strategies. It’s an honor and privilege to work for Europa alongside the best people in the industry,” remarked Stinnett.

As business development manager, Pelkey will oversee doctor alliance and buying group relationships. Pelkey joined Europa in 2020 as a sales representative with a wealth of industry knowledge. In his 36 years in optical, Pelkey has had roles in lens manufacturing, training and development, and regional management. He is a licensed optician and currently serves on the executive committees of the board of directors for both the Opticians Association of America (OAA) and American Board of Opticianry (ABO). “I’m excited to bring my experience collaborating with ODs, opticians, and business owners to this role and seek out additional ways Europa can elevate the business and patient experience within the independent practices,” said Pelkey.

Scott Shapiro, president of Europam commented, “Europa is incredibly fortunate to have two professionals like Doug and Derrick as part of our leadership team. Both of them bring valuable skills and determination to their respective positions, but more importantly, they consistently embody the values that make this company special.”

Independent for the independent, since 1977, Europa Eyewear remains owned and operated by its founding family. All 11 brands in their portfolio, including Scott Harris, Cinzia, and the American-made AO Eyewear, STATE Optical Co. and Alan J collections have been built independently inside of the optical industry.
