SALT LAKE CITY, Utah—Opticare Vision Services, formerly Opticare of Utah, has announced David Sciara as its new national sales manager. The Utah-based vision insurance plan provider brought in the former Humana, Blue Cross and UnitedHealthCare sales specialist to lead the company's growth efforts, an announcement said. Sciara brings over 32 years of experience in major U.S. markets to the new role. Said Aaron Schubach, CEO of Opticare Vision Services, "We knew someone with the experience and talent as David wouldn’t be available for long and the timing couldn’t be better. He’s already making a meaningful impact.”

Aundrea Brinkman, COO of Opticare, agreed. “David’s experience on the broker side and the carrier side is unique and brings valuable insights to our organization.”

Opticare Vision Services is licensed in Utah, Arizona, Missouri and llinois with expansion plans on the horizon. “We have a very compelling suite of offerings that will change the way we deliver eye care, combining proprietary technology, remote/telemedicine, artificial intelligence, mobile/pop-up clinics and more. Having David lead our sales department will prove to be the key in our growth goals becoming a reality.” Schubach added.

Schubach is also the owner of Standard Optical, a 20 unit full scope optometry practice based in Salt Lake City, that is also looking to expand its business.

Sciara commented, “The small family feel at Opticare is a welcome change but what I really care about is taking care of my clients, and the culture that Aaron and Aundrea have built will allow me to do just that.” He continued, “I see opportunity with our Visibly partnership as well as a direct to consumer strategy for Medicare members and retirees that would only aid in our growth as we look to emerging markets.

"We have amazing broker relationships and for decades Opticare Vision has been the leading vision plan in the market, but as this market grows and competition comes in, so we need to make sure our service-focused strategy paired with new and exciting products are in front of every major producer in the market. We see Opticare Vision’s upside as very exciting.”

Opticare said it will announce more details regarding its growth initiatives in the coming months.

Opticare Vision Services was founded in 1986 as Utah’s first limited health plan for vision and currently has over 300,000 lives enrolled. It is a sister company to Standard Optical which was founded in Salt Lake City by Henry Schubach in 1911.
