NEW YORK—The Corporate OD Alliance (CODA) has reached 800 members, according to Maria Sampalis, OD, who started the group to help corporate ODs better manage the business challenges of their practices. The group, a national organization focused on empowering the corporate OD, works with many other organizations in the industry to promote leadership, personal development and best practices for ODs, Dr. Sampalis pointed out. "Being part of this large network will help guide members to industry information that can help expand their knowledge of corporate optometry and industry trends," she said.

"Members can become familiar with best practices, sublease negotiations, contract renewals, and much more. There is a great need in the industry to bring ODs from different settings together."

In the past year the group has experienced both a rapid growth in membership and has expanded its work on the supplier side, now working with more than 30 vendors specific to the needs of corporate ODs. Membership is free. More details are posted here. CODA also has an ambassador program, which enables corporate doctors to mentors.

Dr. Sampalis has also spearheaded the Corporate ODs on Facebook page, which now exceeds 29,000 members.

Looking ahead to 2021, Dr. Sampalis noted, "CODA is looking forward to doing a virtual event in March to help ODs with clinical and business aspects of optometry. CODA members will receive 10 hours of CE. We will be announcing more details soon."
