The sustainable fashion industry is growing, according to a report from The Roundup.org. With consumers increasingly looking for ways to save the environment through their purchases, the sustainable fashion industry is seeing record profits. The industry is expected to grow from $6.5 billion to $15 billion by 2030.

Fast-fashion has seen sales slow as consumers become more aware of the environmental impact of the industry. Fast fashion is now the second-highest polluting industry in the world. Presently the annual growth rate is 8.3 percent, however, experts believe this could reach 9.7 percent by 2023.

It’s believed that this will reach a rate of 5.6 times faster than products that are not considered sustainable. By 2025, eco-friendly products are expected to generate annual sales of $1.5 million globally.

The industry is also generating jobs as a result of new-found popularity, with nearly 18 million new jobs on the horizon by 2030 and an overall boost to the global economy of more than $190 billion.

Women under 35 remain the most likely to buy sustainable products, with social media influencers playing a huge part in generating sales with this demographic. Consumers are purchasing approximately 3 sustainable items at a time.

Millennials remain one of the top purchases of sustainable products, with 73 percent saying they are willing to spend more on sustainable brands. As more people become aware of where to buy these products, experts believe the numbers will continue to increase.

The report noted that 72 percent of consumers were aware of the issues surrounding sustainable products and that 55 percent were interested in purchasing them. One-third of consumers would buy all their clothing through sustainable sources, if they were aware of where to purchase them.
