What’s New: Andy Wolf has received the Silmo d’Or award in the designer eyewear sunglass category for its new Blossom sunglass frames, made with Eastman Acetate Renew.
What’s Green: The new Blossom sunglasses were inspired by the wildflower meadows that surround Andy Wolf headquarters in Hartberg, Austria. Handcrafted exclusively from Acetate Renew, Blossom features a removable acetate inner ring in the shape of a three-dimensional petal and embodies the artistry of traditional craftmanship.
Eastman Acetate Renew is made from certified recycled content and bio-based materials sourced from sustainably managed forests. It diverts hard-to-recycle plastic waste from landfills and incinerators while reducing the consumption of fossil feedstocks and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. By 2023, 75 percent of all acetate frames at Andy Wolf will be changed to Eastman Acetate Renew, completing the material adoption ahead of schedule.
What to Know: Wolfgang Scheucher, founder of Andy Wolf, said, "We are really proud to be at the forefront of sustainability and environmental responsibility in the eyewear industry. This Silmo d’Or award win for designer eyewear sunglasses further highlights the exceptional quality in design possibilities for eyewear produced with Eastman Acetate Renew.”
