DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—Costa has kicked off a new consumer marketing campaign for its OCEARCH Limited Edition sunglasses in observance of World Oceans Day on June 8, a global day of celebration and collaboration to help protect and conserve the world’s oceans.

The sunglasses collection is rooted in Costa’s 10-year partnership with OCEARCH, a group of explorers and scientists who are dedicated to generating previously unattainable data on the movement, biology and health of sharks. Costa is donating a portion of the limited edition collection’s proceeds to OCEARCH.

The campaign features a “Win A Shark” consumer contest through July; the grand prize package includes a trip for two to Montauk, New York, where the winner will participate in a shark expedition aboard an OCEARCH research vessel and name a tagged shark. The grand prize winner, along with 10 first-prize winners, will receive Costa sunglasses and gear.

The OCEARCH boat expedition is the same prize that Costa gave away for a contest at Vision Expo East earlier this year, although the consumer contest winner and ECPs will be going on separate excursions. The two ECP winners from the Costa’s Expo contest were J. Patrick Brennan, OD, Brennan Eye Care, and Laurie Acosta, Williamson Eye Wear.

As a part of the consumer campaign, Costa is posting new digital graphics for ECPs to share from Costa’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.

Additionally, Costa released a new video about the importance of OCEARCH’s mission.
