SOUTHFIELD, Mich.—SEE Eyewear, the 40-unit optical retailer operating stores across the country, has announced a key new member of its executive leadership team. Rob McCoy, who brings 35 years of experience in the optical industry across diverse geographies and businesses in the Middle East, U.S. and Canada, joined SEE as chief retail officer in mid-March. SEE founder and CEO Richard Golden stated, “As we prepare for the next phase of growth for SEE, Rob stepping into the role of chief retail officer was a natural fit. His vast experience in the industry paired with his outstanding business acumen and highly successful track record of leading teams make him a key player in the continued growth of the company.”

McCoy commented, “I’m really happy to be a part of this team, I’ve loved this brand for a long time and am excited about the future direction and opportunity.”

McCoy started his career in the optical industry in 1991 as part-time help in an optometrist's office while still in college, eventually becoming a licensed optician, lab manager and store manager. In the mid-90s he joined Walmart Vision Center, where he served as a district manager before moving to the home office in Bentonville as head of operations support for the entire chain of Walmart Vision and Sam's Club Optical locations.

He later served as vice president and general manager of Luxottica’s Luxury Retail business (ILORI/Optical Shop of Aspen). Since then, in addition to time working in the Middle East, he held the role of executive vice president and head of retail at U.S. Vision, leading the retail business for 600+ locations across the U.S. and Canada. Most recently, he served as chief operations officer for New Look Vision Group's U.S. business, including LOH and Edward Beiner Group.

SEE (Selective Eyewear Elements) was conceived in 1998 by Golden as a prototype optical boutique "with the mission of changing the rules forever by making the purchase of 'cool' eyewear a fashionably and economically correct experience." SEE operates 40 stores nationally, including locations in New York City, Los Angeles, South Beach, Boston, San Francisco, Georgetown, Chicago, Nashville and Charleston, among others, with multiple locations slated to open in the next year, the company said.
