GREEN BAY, Wis.—Western Optical Supply Inc., a supplier and manufacturer of optical dispensing tools, was recently acquired from its founder, Joshua Freilich, by eyecare industry veteran, Joe Sabel, ABOC, and his wife Holly. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Along with the change in ownership, the company is relocating from Santa Fe, N.M. to Green Bay, Wis. “This is the perfect time with the perfect people to transition Western to a new generation,” said Freilich.

“After guiding Western for 50 years, it is time for renewed energy and rededication to our core values. It has been my pleasure to have been of service to the optical industry who has given me and my wife and partner, Suzanne Lederer, a lifetime of wonderful memories.”

Over the past 20 years, Joe Sabel has held various leadership roles for Essilor, Walman, Lombart and most recently, Bausch + Lomb. Speaking of the acquisition, he remarked, “Western’s brand is known for innovation, high quality and a great price. Our intention is to build the same level of trust with eyecare professionals that they know and expect from Western. We are dedicated to expanding the core principles of innovation, excellent service and value that have made Western Optical Supply a respected brand worldwide.
