SAN DIEGO—Shamir has renewed its agreement with BWT Alpine F1 Team and will continue to be the team’s Optical Performance Partner. The extended collaboration gives the BWT Alpine F1 Team continued access to technology from the global leader in optical lens technology, and marks a continued commitment from both Alpine and Shamir following four years of development success. The BWT Alpine F1 Team already uses several specialized projects and initiatives from the vision performance labs of Shamir, the world’s leading producer of high-performance lenses and part of the EssilorLuxottica Group.

Shamir was instrumental in evaluating the team’s needs for advanced visual performance and delivering the most advanced safety equipment and precision lenses for optimum vision.

In 2023, Shamir launched Shamir Driver Intelligence lenses to improve driving performance and safety by enabling sharp and clear vision with less glare, day and night, and in low-light conditions. Providing exceptionally wide and clear visual fields and enhanced color contrasts, these innovative lenses help drivers adjust to changing light and reduce eye fatigue, and improve reaction time, leading to heightened performance on the road.

The development process for Driver Intelligence lenses incorporated feedback directly from the BWT Alpine F1 Team. Shamir and the BWT Alpine F1 Team are now looking forward to continuing their fruitful partnership.

“We are thrilled to extend our collaboration with Shamir, a partner that shares our dedication to pushing the boundaries of technology. We look forward to continuing our work toward visual excellence and introducing more state-of-the-art solutions with the work we are doing with Shamir,” said David Gendry, VP, chief commercial officer for BWT Alpine F1 Team and VP of communications for the Alpine brand.

Yagen Moshe, Shamir Optical CEO, added, "We are proud to continue our technical partnership with the BWT Alpine F1 Team and we look forward to unlocking even greater visual performance with the team. Our continued partnership provides a unique avenue for Shamir to pursue our passion for innovation and developing unique and groundbreaking products. A wonderful collaboration as we have with the BWT Alpine F1 team, in a sport where performance is everything and every 0.1 percent matters, is perfectly in line with the Shamir mission of improving quality of life by improving vision."

BWT Alpine F1 Team competes in the FIA Formula One World Championship with race winners Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly. The team finished sixth in the 2023 Constructors’ Championship as it continues its quest to reach the pinnacle of Formula 1.

Under the guidance of CEO Philippe Krief, Alpine is a French-style sports car brand founded in 1955 by Jean Rédélé. The Alpine Business Unit was created in 2021 and became the brand dedicated to innovative, authentic and exclusive sports cars of the Renault Group, benefiting from the heritage and craftsmanship of its historic plant in Dieppe, as well as the engineering mastery of BWT Alpine F1 Team, Alpine Racing and Alpine Cars.

“Our developers are excited to continue working with the BWT Alpine F1 team. It is a partnership that sparks our imaginations and inspires creative innovation,” said Zohar Katzmann, Shamir Optical chief technology officer. “Our mission is to deliver perfect vision under all conditions, to tailor personal vision solutions to our Alpine F1 partners and to enhance the team’s performance and safety in the extremes of F1 competition. And it’s a two-way street because data from this team is analyzed and added to our data set to develop production lenses, including the Driver Intelligence lenses.”
