ST. LOUIS—The American Optometric Association (AOA) announced its 2015 AOA Award winners who will be recognized for their accomplishments in the eyecare profession and community service.

The six winners, who were selected by the AOA, will be presented with their awards at the Opening General Session at Optometry’s Meeting in Seattle, Wash. The association will present awards for Optometrist of the Year, Young Optometrist of the Year, the Optometric Educator Award, Paraoptometric of the Year, the Distinguished Service Award and the Apollo Award.

Winners of the 2015 AOA Awards include the Optometrist of the Year Award, David Heitmeier, OD, of Louisiana; The Young Optometrist of the Year Award, Tamara Petrosyan, OD, of New Jersey; The Optometric Educator Award, Tammy Than, OD, of Alabama; The Paraoptometric of the Year Award, Marilyn Beeson, CPOA, of Mississippi; The Distinguished Service Award, Lee Carr III, OD, of Oklahoma; and The Apollo Award, NewView Oklahoma, Inc., of Oklahoma City.
