HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.—A school in Nepal that had been destroyed by the 2015 earthquake recently reopened in a new building, thanks to support from Nidek.

After the collapse, the Shree Kalika Secondary School Sundawati operated in a temporary building. Nidek responded to a request from local people and supported the rebuilding of the school in 2016. The new school, which serves about 550 students between the ages of 6 to 15, is constructed of reinforced concrete with an earthquake-proof structure.

“As a company engaged in medical care, we will continue to contribute to the improvement of the environment for a healthy life for the people of the world,” stated Motoki Ozawa, president and CEO of Nidek.

“We continue to be proud of our association with our partner Nidek as they remain committed to improving the lives of people around the world,” said Gerard Santinelli, president and CEO of Santinelli International, a longtime Nidek distributor.
