LINTHICUM, Md.—Superior Vision Corporation, a leading managed vision care company, announced that Mark C. Ruchman, MD, has joined the company as chief medical officer.

“In addition to our routine vision products and services, Superior Vision offers health plan customers a program in which we evaluate eye-related medical and surgical procedures for medical necessity and appropriateness of treatment,” stated Kirk Rothrock, CEO of Superior Vision. “We are extremely fortunate to have a clinician of Dr. Ruchman’s reputation and standing in the medical community join Superior Vision.”

As chief medical officer, Dr. Ruchman will have overall responsibility for medical policy including utilization management, quality improvement, credentialing, technology assessment, protocol development, accreditation standards and clinical guidelines. Dr. Ruchman will also supervise Superior Vision medical directors and represent the company to health plan medical directors and leaders of the larger medical community.

Prior to Superior Vision, Dr. Ruchman was national medical director for vision for Envolve Benefit Options/Centene Corporation. He joins the company with over 30 years of experience in eyecare medical management.
