COLUMBIA, Md.—The Foundation Fighting Blindness has joined forces with campaign ambassadors as well as some celebrities for the launch of the #HowEyeSeeIt campaign. The campaign is the first social media initiative aimed at elevating awareness and accelerating research funding for retina degenerative diseases.

The foundation paired individuals affected by a retinal degenerative disease with celebrities including Glee’s Harry Shum Jr., Diane Guerrero of Orange is the New Black and Justin Baldoni of Jane the Virgin to demonstrate the difficulty in performing everyday tasks with vision impairment or loss.

“We’re thrilled that so many leaders from the entertainment, sports and business community are joining us in taking the blindfold challenge,” said Bill Schmidt, CEO of Foundation Fighting Blindness. “We hope it will give people better understanding of what it is like to live with a blinding disease and ultimately inspire them to join us in the fight to find a cure.”

To get involved, people should visit www.howeyeseeit.org and make a donation; or they can take part in the campaign’s blindfold challenge and create a short video of themselves participating in an activity they love while blindfolded and share to social media with the hashtag #HowEyeSeeIt.
