Daniel Chambers, MBA, COE.
FAIRFAX, Va.—Daniel Chambers, MBA, COE, has been named the 2016-2017 president of the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA) the management arm of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS)—a role to which he brings more than 40 years of experience in health care administration.

With his MBA in management and health systems from the University of Connecticut, Chambers’ work in the practice management field has ranged from hospital administration, surgery center development and management, and Physician Management Corporations, spanning 140 clinics in 26 states. In addition to his work as a practice management consultant, Chambers is the current executive director for the Key-Whitman Eye Center in Dallas, Texas.

“ASOA has established itself as the leader in the field of ophthalmic practice management by always keeping a finger on the pulse of, and adapting to, changes in the practice management landscape,” said Chambers at the organizations opening general session for the 42nd annual ASCRS and ASOA Symposium and Congress in New Orleans. “An organization does not achieve 30 years of success without members who go above and beyond.”

In conjunction with serving as chair of the 2012 Certified Ophthalmic Executive (COE) Review Course for ASOA, he has also been involved with the ASOA Physician Relations Committee and served as chair of the 2015 ASOA Annual Congress program committee.
