NEW YORK—Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Blue View Vision is planning to educate participating providers further about its new patient health information “Orange Buttons” initiative, also known as the new Blue View Vision Clinical Coordination program. The program is part of Anthem’s Whole Health Connection for vision.

The group is offering a webinar on Oct. 18 to help providers better understand the program, presented by Richard Hom, OD, national optometric director of Anthem and hosted by Jay Binkowitz, president of GPN.

According to John Thorp, staff VP of Vision Services, Anthem, Inc. Blue View Vision, “When members have our vision and health plans, we can create complete health profiles and share them with their doctors. We believe in simplifying things for our members by providing integrated benefits. We provide care alerts and patient health history to both types of providers.”

He added, “Vision providers view information via the click of an ‘orange button.’ Providers use this information to identify and eliminate gaps in care—which leads to healthier patients. Having a patient history, including prescription drugs and lab results, helps eyecare providers become valued health care experts for their patients.”

Blue View Vision benefits are administered in partnership with EyeMed Vision Care; providers will see the patient information when they log in to check member benefits through the EyeMed portal.

The webinar will examine how the program works and how it can benefit providers’ understanding of patient health and its connection to vision. Those who register can choose from two different session times: Session 1, 12:00 p.m. EDT or Session 2, 8:00 p.m. EDT.
