Brando Eyewear Relaunches Iconic French Brand Philippe Chevalier

More Images
Quick Take: Brando Eyewear relaunched the iconic French brand, Philippe Chevalier during Silmo’s 50th anniversary.
Wearer: Individuals who are seeking a bold eyewear look.
Specifics: Philippe Chevalier’s eyewear brand was originally founded in 1968—which was a pivotal time in French history both culturally and historically. The revival of this iconic brand is marked by a collection of re-imagined looks. Brando drew upon Chevalier’s original design archives and worked closely with him to bring this brand back to life in a new era. This first collection was inspired by three of Philippe Chevalier’s favorite constructions: The Box, The Whale and The Mask.
Selling Points: The collection is defined by bold, playful and sporty looks that inspired the original collections. These characteristics create silhouettes that respect the past with a nod to the future and produce a brand philosophy that is “Bold as Love Since 1968.” The frames in the Box Series feature a signature box temple and contrasting geometric lens shapes, paired with original “exclamation mark” tips molded from lightweight acetate and metal combinations. The Whale series offers a salute to a design originally created for Lanvin in the late 1960s. This series offers a truly playful feel with a youthful injection of surprise. The Mask series combines retro with future with its sportier take.

Orgreen Debuts Mini Capsule Collection for 20th Anniversary

More Images
Quick Take: Orgreen is celebrating its 20th anniversary this fall with a mini capsule collection.
Specifics: The mini collection revisits some of the most iconic Orgreen styles from the brand’s history. It will feature two unisex styles, one female and one male all named after four essential team members—Gregers, Tobias, Sahra and Henrik.
Selling Points: The characteristic open temple feature is inspired by the wing of a 1959 Cadillac DeVille. This signature feature has proven to be timeless and one of the most popular recurring Orgreen design staples. For the relaunch, these styles have received an updated front as well as a sharper and slimmer wing. All frames come in 100 percent Japanese titanium and for the first time, these frames include titanium nosepads.
The Henrik, named after Orgeen’s co-founder Henrik Orgreen, is Orgreen’s take on the vintage circular frame style and is revived with a more vintage feel. The Sahra echoes the circular classicism of the Henrik but is transformed with a more feminine finish and honors Orgreen’s longtime color advisor Sahra Lysell. The Gregers is a unisex square panto named for Orgreen’s co-founder and sales director, Gregers Fastrup. The Tobias is a true Orgreen classic that symbolizes the core of the brand’s aesthetic and remains one of the brand’s most popular styles. It’s designed by and named after Orgreen co-founder and chief designer Tobias Wandrup.

Leisure Society by Shane Baum Adds New Styles for Spring 2018

More Images
Quick Take: Leisure Society by Shane Baum announces the addition of new styles for its Spring 2018 collection.
Specifics: Seven new styles
Selling Points: The Spring 2018 release from Leisure Society takes inspiration from the analyzation and reflection of the connection between mathematics and art. Each frame is inspired by an artist who created their art with strong connections to math. The collection also introduces two new frames that were developed with an experimental 3D design approach. The Savoye and Satie feature an innovative reverse-rimless floating lens technology. The Satie is a mid-sized feminine cat eye shape that utilized the floating lens concept. The Savoye is a '70s inspired silhouette that features bold geometric and angular attributes to create a hi-tech mix of sport and sophistication. The unisex styles: Escher and Corbusier are primarily made from beta-titanium. Escher named for M.C. Escher showcases a bridgeless frame that appears to float on the wearers face while the Corbusier, inspired by the French-Swiss father of modern architecture, combines a pure beta-titanium chassis flanked with intricate patterns with cotton-based zyl insets and a 24K gold plated mirrored lens. The color palette in the collection features a mix of transparent and semi-transparent crystal acetates as well as a new color to Leisure Society called Azure which is a chic, subtle blue tone.
