Revolution Launches Millefiori Collection

Quick Take: Revolution Eyewear has launched the Millefiori collection featuring Venetian glass details. Millefiori, a combination of the words ‘thousand’ and ‘flower’ in Italian, is a glasswork technique that creates decorative mosaic patterns, while Venetian indicates the glass was made in Murano, Italy.
Wearer: Women of all ages.
Specifics: Six exclusive optical styles.
Selling Points: In 1911, two brothers opened a small workshop in Murano for the production of Venetian glass beads. They passed down the craft to their descendants enabling the business to continue to grow. Today, the company is still operated by family members who produce their products by hand with extreme care, passion and precision. The company has become a world leader in the production of millefiori objects. Revolution Eyewear has incorporated the intricate work of these very artisans into the Millefiori collection by adding a glasswork to each design. Pictured is a rounded rectangular frame with a pink millefiori bead set into a hexagon accent, further emphasized by crystal embellishments, on the temples.

Ørgreen and Melody Gardot Create Limited Edition Sun Styles

Danish eyewear brand Ørgreen Optics and Paris-based American Grammy-nominated jazz singer, songwriter and musician, Melody Gardot have collaborated on colors to create three limited editions of the brand’s Capote sunglasses. “Melody is the perfect brand ambassador for Ørgreen Optics,” said founder Henrik Ørgreen. “A talented, world-renown jazz musician with a soulful voice that feels like velvet.” The color collaboration was done with Ørgreen’s in-house color advisor Sahra Lysell. Together they created three limited edition colors called La Vue en Rose, Poète and Étoile. “I instantly fell in love with Ørgreen Optics. Normally glasses greatly affect the sound of the voice, as most frames tend to pinch the nose and close the passages to breath,” added Gardot. “Wearing eyewear that’s so light, for me, is a luxury.”
Only 50 of each color were made and the three editions will be available in select stores early January 2016. www.orgreenoptics.com
