Eye Solutions Launches Blu-Tech Lenses
Quick Take: Lake Mary, Fla.-based eye solutions has introduced Blu-Tech lenses which use a patented Ocular Lens Pigment to filter blue and UV light that can harm the macula and contribute to Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD).
Wearer: “We are exposed to more high-energy blue light both indoors and out than ever before,” said David Israel, chief operating officer of eye solutions. “Blu-Tech lenses provide the protection needed to guard the macula from oxidative stress and a lifetime of exposure from damaging blue light.”
Specifics: Blu-Tech lenses are available in standard plastic in an indoor design. Israel said he expects to soon offer a proprietary high-impact material that meets the ANSI Z87.1-2003 safety standards in both the indoor and outdoor polarized lens designs. Currently, Blu-Tech lenses are available exclusively through Signet Armorlite’s Signatek lab in Signet Armorlite’s back side digital lens designs.
Selling Points: According to Israel, Blu-Tech lenses maintain natural color vision and improve contrast sensitivity. He explained that the lenses filter out harmful blue light proportional to the damage that blue light causes the retina. Shorter blue light wavelengths are completely filtered out but as the blue wavelengths get longer and approach green they are filtered less.

Selling Points: Spellbound and Beguile are two complementary looks bringing the latest in celebrity inspired fashion with bold coloring and modified animal prints. Spellbound is a petite fit handmade acetate frame with an updated retro eyeshape with a custom pattern on the temples featuring colorful animal prints. Beguile is a semi-rimless combination frame with a metal front and translucent acetate temples in a modified oval eyeshape featuring a deeper B measurement to accommodate progressives and a large stone accent on the animal print temples. The XOXO Solo Act collection includes two combination frames, the Posh and Knockout with spring hinges and adjustable nose pads. The Posh is a semi-rimless frame with a modified rectangle eyeshape and animal print on the temples; while the Knockout is an updated retro eyeshape with contrasting color on the interior metal front and a subtle high sheen animal print on the temples.

Maui Jim’s New Waterways Suns for Cruising

Specifics: Waterways has a lightweight, high-grade nylon frame with thin temples and an aggressive rectangular eye-shape and double-bridge treatment. The nine layers of protection include waterproof and oleophobic coatings and a ClearShell scratch-resistant treatment.
