Marchon has debuted their first Nine West Eyewear collection under their license with The Jones Group. The Spring/Summer 2012 launch collection features styles that translate color, pattern and trends to capture the brand’s modern, sexy style.
Wearer: Historically, one of the best-selling eyewear collections in the industry, the new collection is for fans of the Nine West brand.
Specifics: 22 ophthalmic, 10 of which are plastic, 12 metal; and 10 prescription-ready sun styles, eight of which are plastic and two metals.
Selling Points: Color blocking features prominently in the collection in bright green, red, pink and turquoise mixed with black and tortoise zyl. Other prevalent colors include peach blonde, ruby orange, rose ombre and silver mesh which all highlight the collection’s on trend design. In addition to color, animal prints and polka dots often line the interior or exterior temples. The temples are also adorned with Nine West logo plaques, studs and/or half-star details for an element of glamour and edge which speaks to the agelessness of the Nine West women.

Vistakon Launches 1-Day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism

25 years after it introduced the first disposable soft contact lens, Vistakon, a division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, has launched a new daily disposable soft toric lens featuring accurate fast fit and an extensive range of power availability in the U.S.
Wearer: “Research confirms that nearly half of all patients requiring vision correction have clinically significant levels of astigmatism in at least one eye,” said W. Lee Ball, OD, FAAO, associate director, medical affairs, Vistakon. “Additional studies show that toric soft contact lenses such as 1-Day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism provide significantly better visual acuity compared to spherical lenses for astigmatic patients and provide comparable improvements in visual acuity to spectacle wear.”
Specifics: The contact lenses are made using LACREON technology, a unique process that permanently embeds a water holding ingredient, similar to that found in natural tears, into the proven etafilcon A material of the 1-Day Acuvue brand. This technological advancement locks in moisture that lasts throughout the day, addressing the most frequently reported complaints of contact lens discomfort - dryness and end of day comfort, the company said. 1-Day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism has over 1,500 SKUs (12 axes, 4 cylinders) at distance parameters of +4.00D to -9.00D. The contact lens also blocks approximately 82 percent of UV-A radiation and 97% of UV-B radiation.
Selling Points: Along with the health and convenience benefits of wearing a fresh contact lens every day, 1-Day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism features a proprietary Blink Stabilized Design, which harnesses the natural pressures of a blinking eye to help keep the lens in place and quickly realign the lens if it rotates out of position. The design provides wearers with consistent, all-day vision, the company said, adding, that it also provides an advantage for practitioners because the lens settles within one minute, thus reducing chair time and the need for further progress evaluations.

Luxottica has announced the launch of the Versace Étoile de la Mer eyewear capsule collection for spring/summer 2012.
Specifics: The capsule series is composed of two sunglasses and one optical model.
Selling Points: The signature piece featuring the new design concept was shown during the Spring/Summer 2012 Versace women’s fashion show in Milan. Using a Versace siren who arrives in the city in the middle of the hot summer as inspiration, Versace’s creative director, Donatella Versace, designed the Étoile de la Mer collection to reflect the same mood as the House’s prêt-à-porter collection. The line includes styles VE2131, a frameless, oversized pilot mask sun with metalwork detail on the lens, the VE4233, a cat-eye sun style with a bi-colored gradient and metal wire brow line, and the VE3167, the optical model with details such as the bi-colored gradient cat-eye and the metal wire brow line. The Spring/Summer 2012 Versace advertising campaign features supermodel Gisele Bündchen wearing the VE2131. The Étoile de la Mer collection will be available in Versace boutiques, as well as through select retailers worldwide this month.
