NEW YORK—This has been a difficult year for many businesses, but perhaps small businesses have been hurt more than most. This is one reason many small-business owners are looking forward to the annual Small Business Saturday event that takes place today, Nov. 28, sandwiched in between Black Friday (which won’t look the same this year) and Cyber Monday, which is projected to be another boon for retailers with an online presence.

VM and 20/20 Magazine Announce EyeVote Readers’ Choice Awards for 2020
NEW YORK—Vision Monday and 20/20 Magazine are pleased to announce the selections in the 12th annual EyeVote Readers’ Choice Awards, a special survey aimed at identifying readers’ favorite products and companies of the year. Optical retailers and ECP readers of the two Jobson Medical Information publications were asked to identify their “favorite” products in 19 distinct categories.

141 Years of History, and a New Location to Boot: St. Louis Icon Erkers Eyewear
ST. LOUIS—It was over 100 years ago, in 1879, when A.P. Erker arrived in the U.S. from Germany and founded Erkers in St. Louis, Missouri. Within a few years, A.P.’s brother August joined the business, and the rest, as they say, is history. Erkers is officially the first optical laboratory west of the Mississippi River, and also served as the official photographer for the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair. The company is a steadfast and integral part of both St. Louis’ history and American optical history—and that stands true to today.
