VMAIL Weekend recently sat down with (remotely of course) Dwight Akerman, OD, Review of Myopia Management’s chief medical editor, for an update on what’s happening in the world of myopia. Akerman spoke about the effects of the pandemic on myopia management, the dangers of too much screen time for kids and what’s on the horizon for treating the disease. He also offered some sound advice to ECPs who are interested in incorporating myopia management into their primary care practices.

VM Global Leadership Summit Will Be a Virtual Series This Fall: 'AFTERSHOCKS: Remaking Healthcare's Future, Vision Beyond 2020'
NEW YORK—The multi-faceted, ripple effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are reshaping business, culture, consumer attitudes and many aspects of the healthcare field, vision care included. As a result, the theme and topics of the 2020 Vision Monday Global Leadership Summit, originally scheduled as a live event last March, has been reshaped to reflect that and will kick off this fall as a Virtual Event Series. Titled "AFTERSHOCKS: Remaking Healthcare's Future, Vision Beyond 2020," the VM Global Leadership Summit will comprise four two-hour sessions to be held over four consecutive weeks, starting Sept. 30, Oct. 7, Oct. 14 and Oct. 21.

NEW YORK—Although it doesn’t quite feel like it, there’s no denying that we are officially in the beginning of the back-to-school season. Heading back to the classroom this year is looking very different from what we’re used to, with many schools sticking to online learning, while others require masks and in-class social distancing, or attempt a combination of the two.
