Yesterday was White Cane Awareness Day, a day, according to the National Federation of the Blind, "dedicated to emphasizing the critical role that this tool plays in living the lives we want and informing the public about its true significance." To commemorate the day, people all around the world shared stories about what white canes mean to them. One of those people is Rachel Luehrs, who penned an essay for Foundation Fighting Blindness about her journey to accepting her white cane. Head over to Fighting Blindness to read Rachel's important essay, and to learn more about what white canes mean to some of the people who use them.
