LONDON—The 14th annual conference of the European Academy of Optometry and Optics (EAOO) will take place in Poznań, Poland, from May 12 to 14, 2023. The European Council of Optometry and Optics (ECOO) spring meeting will be held alongside the Academy event beginning May 11. The EAOO Poznan ’23 is the largest professional gathering for optometry and optics in Europe, welcoming students, optometrists, dispensing opticians, opticians, vision scientists, academics, researchers and all other professionals from across the sector.

The Academy program features a large range of scientific, clinical, educational, and public health topics, including keynotes, lectures, interactive roundtables, posters, sponsored sessions and an exhibition.  The live offers an opportunity of networking for all delegates.

“The changing world that surrounds us calls on the eyecare sector to stay on the edge of the art, and I'm thrilled to see that the Academy continues on its commitment of promoting lifelong learning, while motivating excellence in a demanding dynamic reality,” said Liliana Stankova, president of EAOO. “Accelerated digitalization, trending AI, industry innovations, but also challenges related to the economic, climate and refugee crises, are all the external factors that influence what we do and who we are as professionals.

"This year’s Academy program is open to embrace, among others, digitalization and humanitarian aspects of eyecare. I am extremely grateful to our hosts, sponsors, partners, and all those who work hard to prepare an outstanding and unforgettable Poznań ‘23,” said Stankova.

The conference is jointly organized by the EAOO and the Polish Optometric Association, Polskie Towarzystwo Optometrii i Optyki (PTOO).

“We are delighted to host the EAOO annual congress in Poznań and look forward to welcoming a record number of delegates, students, researchers and practitioners to discuss, and share the latest evidence, education and clinical practice in optometry, optics and dispensing and vision science,” said Dominika Olkowska, president of PTOO.

“Poland successfully hosted the Academy conference in 2014, and we are proud to welcome the event again, especially in Poznań where Polish optometry was born in 1983. With the program featuring a wide mix of world-class speakers on a variety of topics across optics and optometry, we are sure that everyone will enjoy something of interest,” Olkowska said.
