NEW YORK—Out of all the places one might find Drew Barrymore on a Friday afternoon in February, an airy penthouse studio in midtown Manhattan feels like the most fitting spot. Last month, the actress and guests gathered to celebrate the launch of Flower by Drew Eyewear—a line of blue light glasses designed by Barrymore, available exclusively at Walmart.

The Flower by Drew Eyewear Blue Light collection debuts with three frames in seven styles, all designed to block UV rays and 40 percent of blue light rays. The styles are Violet, which comes in shiny black, slate smoke crystal and navy; Daisy, which comes in blonde demi and clear crystal; and Marigold, which comes in tortoise epoxy and shiny gold.

At the event, Barrymore said she sees her eyewear line “as a wellness story,” as much as a fashion one. “We’re not going to do any less screen time,” she explained, so blue light glasses offer a way to adapt and incorporate wellness into new habits. The collection is designed to be affordable, functional and still just as fashion forward as the actress herself—in an announcement, Barrymore said, “I screen, you screen...We all screen too much! At Flower Eyewear, we are setting our sights on minimizing blue light, while offering a new collection of frames designed for fashion, form and function.”

Barrymore launched Barrymore Brands in 2013 with Flower Beauty. Under the umbrella, Barrymore also houses Flower Home and Flower Eyewear. Since 2013, Barrymore and Walmart have added Flower Eyewear—which includes optical and sun collections in addition to this blue light launch—to about 3,000 Walmart Vision Centers across the U.S., as well as Asda in the United Kingdom.
