OAKLAND, N.J.—Topcon Healthcare, a provider of medical devices and software solutions for the global eyecare community, on Friday announced the appointment of several new members to the U.S. executive team, as well as the promotion of key employees. The moves come as the company “continues to experience unprecedented sales growth,” Topcon said in its announcement, and noted that the appointments “will facilitate industry relationships and put us on a trajectory for even greater growth and market share.”

Among the appointments announced Friday, Peter Larsen will become the president of Topcon Medical Systems, effective Oct. 1, 2021. He will succeed John Fujita, who will be returning to Japan for a new role at Topcon headquarters after leading the company to unprecedented sales growth over the past 5½ years.

Prior to being named president of Topcon Medical Systems, Larsen served as the VP of business development for Topcon Healthcare. Larsen came to Topcon from Specsavers Optical Group, where he was a founding partner responsible for introducing the business into Australia and New Zealand. Throughout his career in the eyecare sector, Larsen has “demonstrated his strong leadership skills and commitment to improving eye health outcomes,” according to the announcement.

To assist in the transition, Topcon has appointed Al Brooks, a 20-year veteran with the company and the president of Topcon Canada, as interim SVP of sales. Brooks will manage the U.S., Latin American and Canadian sales teams.

In addition, Topcon has hired Greg Wassberg as senior director of national accounts, an area of explosive sales growth for the company over the past few years. Wassberg comes to Topcon with a wealth of industry knowledge and a proven track record of success, the announcement noted.

Topcon also is bolstering its operations division with the promotion of Ali Zendehdel to the position of VP of operations and global customer care. Zendehdel will manage all operations’ activities in the organization with a focus on efficiency and cost-effective systems for improved customer care.

“As the company continues to experience unprecedented sales growth, these executive appointments will facilitate industry relationships and put us on a trajectory for even greater growth and market share,” Fumio Ohue, managing executive officer of Topcon Corp., said in the announcement. “I congratulate everyone on their appointments and look forward to much continued success in the future.”
