ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—WaveFront Dynamics Inc. (WaveDyn), an early-stage ophthalmic medical device company, announced that Jeff Kolberg has been appointed as the company’s chief commercial officer (CCO). Kolberg joins the leadership team with extensive industry experience to lead WaveDyn’s corporate strategy and future commercialization of its products, including overseeing marketing, sales and service teams, according to the announcement. The company is focusing efforts on its dynamic wavefront measurement device and advanced treatment solutions, which will help restore vision and quality of life for patients with highly aberrated eyes.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Jeff to the WaveDyn team,” chief executive officer Dan Neal said. “He brings more than 20 years of medical device business experience with more than a decade of developing and commercializing ophthalmology products, including wavefront diagnostic devices, on a global basis.”

WaveDyn, a privately held, early-stage medical device company, plans to leverage the dynamic measurements of its innovative wavefront diagnostic technology “to yield new insights into assessing visual performance, advancing treatment options, and improving quality of life for the visually impaired,” according to its announcement.

Neal added, “I’ve known and worked closely with Jeff for more than 10 years at the same industry-leading ophthalmic organizations. His unique, in-depth understanding of WaveDyn’s technology, coupled with his commercial experience and comprehensive understanding of the vision care industry makes Jeff a true asset for our current and future business needs.”

Before joining WaveDyn, Kolberg spent 10 years working for Johnson & Johnson Vision and Abbott Medical Optics. Most recently, at Johnson & Johnson Vision, he was responsible for global marketing and commercialization of a portfolio of premium intraocular lenses.

At Abbott Medical Optics, he led global commercialization for the iDesign System and was a recipient of a divisional president’s award for his achievements. He has a bachelor’s degree in biological science and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis in health care from the University of California, Irvine.
