NEW YORK—Just prior to the Christmas holiday, Warby Parker (NYSE: WRBY) announced the opening of two new stores in New York, noting that they would include the milestone opening of the 200th store for the eyewear retailer, which first launched online in 2010. The company opened its first physical retail store in Soho, on Greene Street, in 2013. The new stores, including one in Morningside Heights and one on Union Square, were opened in tandem. In addition, the company noted that a new store in 2023 is planned to open in New York on the Upper West Side, at Columbus Avenue and 80th Street, early in the year.

Each of the stores will offer eye exams and carry the brand’s full assortment of sun and optical offerings, including the New Deco and Winter 2022 collections. Daily contact lenses, including Scout by Warby Parker and third-party contact lens brands, will also be available.

The early 2023 Upper West Side Columbus Avenue location will be known, the company said, as the "Warby Parker Museum of the Blue-Footed Booby," honoring the brand’s long-standing unofficial mascot. Sitting right across the street from the Museum of Natural History, the store will feature an eye-catching exhibition highlighting custom artwork from New York-based artists Maira Kalman, Julia Rothman, and Nate Padavick in addition to Warby Parker’s usual offerings.

The company described this new store as "an educational museum/shopping experience."

The company opened approximately 40 new locations in 2022. In addition to its U.S. stores, Warby Parker operates several locations in Canada.
