MISSION VIEJO, Calif.—Total Vision Partners announced this week that it has partnered with Foothill Optometric Group as the Southern California firm moves to expand its team of optometrists offering comprehensive vision care throughout California. For over 37 years, Foothill Optometric Group has provided high caliber vision care in Pleasanton and the surrounding Tri-Valley communities, the announcement noted. The terms of the new partnership agreement were not disclosed. The Foothill Optometric practice is led by Dr. Edwin Liu, Dr. Amy Liu Longacre and Dr. Andrew Yang, who bring three decades of experience in private practice optometry.

Total Vision is a portfolio company of New York City-based Bregal Partners and it operated roughly 35 practice locations as of July 1. The firm is one of the largest networks of vision providers in California. Total Vision employs over 360 team members, including 79 doctors, the announcement noted.

“This is an exciting time for both Total Vision and Foothill Optometric Group as we expand our footprint in the Bay Area,” Total Vision chief executive officer Neil Collier said in the announcement. Collier, chief financial officer Doug Cannon and chief medical officer Dr. Steve Klein, all of Total Vision, noted in the announcement that they are “pleased to welcome Drs. Liu, Longacre, Yang and their team to Total Vision.”

Foothill Optometric Group has a staff that includes six doctors and 30 team members.

Among its ODs, Dr. Liu received his Bachelor of Science degree from UCLA in Psychobiology, and in 1982, obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry. He is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and California Optometric Association (COA), as well as a charter member of the Contact Lens Section of the AOA. He also has served as a director for Primary Eyecare Network for the past 15 years.

Dr. Longacre did her undergraduate studies at the University of California at Irvine and received her Bachelor of Science in Visual Science at the Southern California College of Optometry. She earned a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry. She is a member of AOA and COA.

Dr. Yang earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. He completed his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2002. Dr. Yang is fluent in both English and Mandarin, and has been practicing with Foothill Optometric Group for over 13 years.
