MISSION VIEJO, Calif.—Total Vision, a leading and expanding California-based network of vision care providers, has announced a new partnership with Santa Cruz Optometric Center. Since 1953, Santa Cruz Optometric Center, from its downtown location, has provided the community of Santa Cruz, Calif., with quality eyecare services. The terms of Total Vision’s latest partnership were not disclosed. Total Vision, which is backed by New York City-based Bregal Partners, operates approximately 50 office locations throughout California. According to its announcement, Total Vision is the largest network of vision providers in California and employs more than 500 team members, including over 100 doctors.

Dr. Scott Daly of the Santa Cruz practice is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. A second-generation optometrist, he has been serving the Santa Cruz community for over 30 years, having joined his father, Dr. John C. Daly, in practice in 1983. He is a past president of the Monterey Bay Optometric Society and the California Optometric Association.

“We are looking forward to this next chapter with Total Vision and are excited to see the benefits this partnership brings to our staff and patients,” said Dr. Daly, one of the practice’s four ODs.

His optometric leadership roles include chairing the Children’s Vision Task Force to pursue his goal of expanding public awareness and education about the importance of thorough, professional eye exams for infants and children to ensure that every child has the opportunity to develop to their full potential.

Dr. Scott also served on the Santa Cruz Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Association’s board of directors and was a founding member and president of the Locally Owned Business Alliance. Scott was appointed to the City of Santa Cruz Planning Commission in 2003 and was commission chair for 2010, working on the vision of the city through 2025.

Dr. Anna Gardner of the Santa Cruz practice received her optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. She has completed clinical rotations at the Veterans Affairs Clinic in Monterey, Calif., Kaiser Permanente in Roseville, Calif., and La Clinica de La Raza in Oakland, Calif. In addition to her clinical training, Dr. Gardner has provided eyecare to underprivileged communities in Mexico through Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity.

She is certified in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of glaucoma, in addition to various ocular conditions. Dr. Gardner is a member of the Santa Clara Optometric Society, the California Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association.

The practice’s Dr. Caroline Cherng attended U.C. Berkeley for both her optometry degree and undergraduate degree. During her clinical rotations, she trained at Veteran Affairs clinics in Miami and San Jose, Calif., in addition to various community clinics in the Bay Area. She is certified in glaucoma diagnosis, treatment, and management.

Dr. Helen Ahn received her degrees in chemical biology and optometry at UC Berkeley. Her clinical training included primary eye care, binocular vision, ocular disease, and contact lens fittings. She loves working with kids and enjoys performing pediatric eye exams to check ocular health and screen for amblyopia. She is able to speak conversational Mandarin Chinese. In her free time, Dr. Ahn loves to eat good food, make kombucha, and spend time with her friends, church, and family.

Total Vision chief executive officer Neil Collier and chief growth officer Dr. Steve Klein said they are pleased to have Dr. Daly and the entire staff at Santa Cruz Optometric Center join the Total Vision team. “We welcome the team at Santa Cruz Optometric Center and we are excited for them to be part of our continued expansion in Northern California,” Collier said.
