Mike Brown
MINEOLA, Texas—Services were held here on Sept. 12 for industry veteran and Optical Hall of Fame honoree Michael (Mikey) Brown of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, who passed away on Aug. 17, 2020 after a battle with cancer. He was 73 years old. Brown was born in Atlanta, Texas, on March 22, 1947. He worked in the optical industry from 1970 until he retired in 2014, holding senior management positions for Semi-Tech, DAC Vision, Salem, Gerber-Coburn, and Signet Armorlite.

An outgoing person, he made many friends in the industry throughout his long career. His friends described him as a “one in a million guy who was always ready to do whatever he could for the good of mankind.”

Brown attended the First United Methodist Church in Hawkins, Texas and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He graduated from and sang in the choir at Garland High School in Garland, Texas in 1965 and kept in touch with many of his choirmates until his passing.

Survivors include his spouse of 47 years, Reta Pevehouse Brown, and his daughter Robyn DiAnn Brown Keating and grandson, Lake Michael Keating and a son, Stacy Eric Brown.
