VANCOUVER—Kits Eyecare Ltd. (KITS) (TSX: KITS), a digital eyecare platform based here, said it achieved a record Cyber Week that was highlighted by over 8,000 pairs of eyeglasses sold. The eyeglasses were manufactured and shipped from Kits’ new state-of-the-art onshore optical lab, which opened in August 2021, according to the recent announcement. Kits, an online eyewear retailer led by investor Roger Hardy, went public in Canada earlier this year, as VMAIL reported. The offering in January raised more than $40 million.

Among the other Cyber Week highlights cited by Kits are:

• Cyber Week glasses sales represented a more than 600 percent increase in glasses sold compared with Cyber Week in 2020.
• More than 20 percent of orders came from previous eyeglasses customers returning to buy a second pair.
• More than 80 percent of glasses orders were of Kits-branded frames.
• 22 percent of made-to-order lenses included blue light blocking technology.
• The fastest-growing lens type during Cyber Week was digital progressive lenses, which Kits offers for $68, including both the frame and progressive lenses.
• These glasses sales represented the equivalent of approximately 120 retail stores, based on the average sales of independent optical retailers of 5-10 frames sold per day per store.
• On contact lenses, the most popular brands included Dailies Total 1, Acuvue Moist and Biofinity.
• Kits received Cyber Week orders from customers across North America, from New York to Los Angeles, and from as far as Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, and Iqaluit, Territory of Nunavut.

Kits noted that it is able to offer “value” to optical customers across North America by vertically integrating manufacturing and fulfillment of glasses in its Vancouver automated facility and without the overhead of retail chains.

“To have Kits receive more than 8,000 eyeglasses orders during Cyber Week is extremely exciting. It validates our hypothesis that patients are looking for a better way to experience eyecare,” Roger Hardy, chief executive officer of Kits Eyecare, said in the announcement.

“Additionally, having more than 20 percent of glasses orders from returning customers validates the attractiveness of our service and offering," Hardy added.

To celebrate this milestone, Kits said it will increase its support in the eye health of children. Over the coming two quarters, the company will deliver Vitamin A supplements to more than 40,000 children in need across the U.S., Canada and the world, the announcement noted.
