BLOOMINGTON, Ill.—Keplr Vision has acquired Family Eyecare Specialists (FES), a five-location practice of William Black, OD, based in the Boise, Idaho, area, according to an announcement on Friday. FES focuses on the full-scope practice of optometry, an important quality for Keplr partner practices, the announcement noted. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. As a result of the transaction, Keplr now has nine locations across the state of Idaho among its portfolio of 84 total eyecare/optical office locations in 19 states, according to the management firm’s announcement.

“For 25 years our doctors and staff have worked extremely hard to provide world-class patient care combined with leading technology to serve our patients,” Black said in the announcement. “Partnering with Keplr Vision allows us the opportunity to join over 80 like-minded practices across the country to bring greater financial strength, management resources and purchasing power to Family Eyecare Specialists. I am very excited and honored to be part of this culture, especially in today’s complex and competitive medical-business world,” Black said.

Originally from Wyoming, Dr. Black studied optometry at Pacific University and established FES in 1994 with a single location. He has grown the practice to an additional four locations and moved into new areas across the Boise area, according to the announcement.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Family Eyecare Specialists to our organization,” Keplr chief executive officer Nick Williams said in the announcement. “Their focus on patient care and optical excellence align well with Keplr Vision’s mission and growth strategy.”

Keplr Vision is the new name of the company formed through the combination of two portfolio companies of Imperial Capital of Canada—Total ECP and Visionary Eye Partners, as VMAIL reported last month.

Keplr is a business support services company built to invest in medically focused optometry practices, as well as to provide best-in-class lens technology and patient experience. The name is inspired by the life and works of Johannes Kepler, a central figure of the scientific revolution and foundational work on optics during the 17th century, last month’s announcement noted.
