LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Kenmark Eyewear announced that current CEO, Mike Cundiff, is retiring. Effective Jan. 30, 2023, Cundiff will step down from his position and Michelle Clark, Kenmark’s current CFO, will succeed him in the role. Cundiff will remain in a consulting capacity for a few months following his retirement; he has been CEO at Kenmark Eyewear for the past 11 years and been at the company for 40 years. Cundiff began his time at Kenmark Eyewear as a warehouse manager.

In a statement, the company said, “After 40 years with the company, Mike’s tenure has been characterized by passion and service. From his beginnings as a warehouse manager to his position as CEO, Mike has proven his loyalty and commitment to Kenmark time and again, in many capacities. Kenmark Eyewear is indebted to the dedication and vision he has brought to the company over the years. Kenmark is extremely grateful for all he has accomplished and the solid foundation he has laid for the future.”

Cundiff said, “It has been one of the greatest experiences of my life to be the CEO for these nearly 11 years. I will cherish these memories forever. I have the utmost faith in Michelle and the team here at Kenmark to continue our success. Michelle has been very involved in the past few years with the direction of the company and will provide great leadership moving forward.”

Incoming CEO Michelle Clark has been with Kenmark Eyewear for over 16 years. She earned her MBA from the University of Louisville and is a licensed CPA. The company said, “Michelle’s strong leadership skills and business expertise make her the perfect choice to become Kenmark’s new executive leader.”

Clark said, “I’m humbled and excited to take on this new role. I would like to thank Mike for his long-term service and dedication to Kenmark and for his guidance over the years. Along with my exceptional team, I am confident we will continue to build on our strong foundation and propel Kenmark to the next successful chapter.”

In addition, current senior creative director Mallory Fagan will be assuming the role of director of marketing and creative design. Fagan has been with Kenmark Eyewear for over six years. She said, “I’m thrilled to take on the challenge of this new role and I’m excited to continue the momentum and successes we’ve built over these past few years.”
