IRVINE, Calif.—Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) announced the appointment of Erin Powers to the position of vice president of U.S. sales and marketing for its surgical vision portfolio. Powers will lead the U.S. sales, marketing and professional education teams, and will join the company within the next month. "Erin's talent, leadership, and experience in the ophthalmology community will serve as a galvanizing force for our Johnson & Johnson team as they work with ophthalmologists in our shared pursuit to make vision possible for more patients across the U.S.," said Lori Tierney, president, J&J Vision Americas.

A veteran of the ophthalmology industry, Powers comes to Johnson & Johnson with nearly 20 years of experience across vision-focused companies, including Zeiss, Alcon, AMO/VISX and BVI. She’s a proven leader known for her deep relationships within the ophthalmology community, with a track record of establishing strategic business functions, developing ophthalmic and optometric market segments, as well as medical affairs and professional education management.

 
 
Powers is passionate about fostering strong relationships between surgeons and industry and is the standing president of the Ophthalmic World Leaders organization, on the board of the International Society of Refractive Surgery, co-chair of the Women of Dartmouth Development Committee and a member of the Chief network. She holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and the London Business School.
