CALGARY, Alberta—FYidoctors, a leading optometrist-controlled eyecare company, has announced its merger with The Eyewear Place, located in Lloydminster, Alberta. The addition marks the second clinic merger in the province in recent months, and the first FYidoctors clinic in the city of Lloydminster. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Established in 2002, The Eyewear Place practice is led by Dr. Cory Larson and includes a team of skilled vision care professionals, including Candace Florizone, Paula Phillips and Chelsey Mader.

“We’re excited to welcome Dr. Larson and the team at The Eyewear Place to the FYidoctors’ growing team of optometric professionals,” Dr. Alan Ulsifer, chairman and chief executive of FYidoctors, said in the announcement. “The practice is known for its commitment to comprehensive vision care and we look forward to building on this together through this exciting new partnership.”

Under the new partnership, FYidoctors provides the clinic with significant human resource management services; customized staff training, tools, and support; marketing; enhanced clinical technology; lenses that are manufactured in Canada at the FYidoctors’ internal freeform laboratory and distribution center, and enhanced benefits for the staff.

Dr. Larson completed his Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta in 2010, and his Doctor of Optometry from Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry in 2014. He brings to the clinic a wide variety of experience in optometric specialties, having spent his final year of clinical rotations in several diverse optometry practices across the U.S.

“We are a high-volume clinic that the community has come to depend on for all of their vision care needs over the last 20 years,” Larson said. “We take tremendous pride in our patient-centric delivery and are excited to add to that with this partnership with FYidoctors,” said Dr. Larson.

The Eyewear Place has been involved in several local causes, spearheaded by optician, Paula Phillips, including annual fundraising initiatives for the MS Society of Canada, and a holiday drive for the Salvation Army.

FYidoctors is a privately held eyecare company with more than 550 optometrists, 270 locations and 3,000 employees.
