BUSTO ARSIZIO, Italy—Italian color contact lens company Desio and Sightsavers Italia Onlus have continued their partnership for the second consecutive year. In the first year of the partnership, Desio donated enough to distribute treatments against trachoma to more than 176,000 people. This year, the goal of the partnership is to cure tens of thousands of people with trachoma, perform hundreds of cataract operations, distribute thousands of pairs of glasses and perform eye exams to people who need them.

Sightsavers CEO Caroline Harper said, “We are delighted to receive such a support to our eye health work, as this area is in real need of increased funding. 75 percent of sight loss can be cured or prevented, so it’s an area where donors can have a very real impact. Sightsavers can only help some of the most disadvantaged people in the world if supporters like Desio partner with us, so we are very grateful.”

Tereza Uhrova, the CEO of Desio's parent company Qualimed said, "We are very happy to have contributed to the health and happiness of these unfortunate people. Our mission and contribution are also possible thanks to our customers, who continue to believe in our product and therefore allow us to be able to donate a part of our profits to these beautiful projects. Being able to be helpful to those in need and seeing the healthy and smiling eyes of these children is very rewarding and it warms the heart."
