PASSAU, Germany—Cazal has announced that Katharina Schlager, the company’s former CEO and creative director, left the management of op Couture Brillen GmbH on November 30, 2020 and will carry on working for the company in an advisory capacity until the end of March. Schlager had been with Cazal for almost one year; she has been accompanying the firm from the outside as “creative free spirit” since the end of last year. Klaus Lippert, Cazal’s co-director, said, “We see this not as the end of a collaboration but as the beginning of exciting partnerships with artists, designers and other creative free spirits.”

In February 2021, Allan Rasmussen took over creative responsibility for product development at Cazal. Over the past 25 years, Rasmussen has worked as head of design for renowned industry giants, where he was responsible for product development.

Lippert said, “With his expertise in managing collections and his passion for the Cazal brand, Allan Rasmussen suits us perfectly.”

In Spring 2021, Cazal will launch a capsule collection titled Being Greek, developed under the brand’s “Kat for Cazal” motto. Schlager said, “The limited-edition sunglasses were created as a homage to the designer Cari Zalloni, and they embody all the attributes that have made Cazal an icon among eyewear brands.”

ESE and Ultra Palm Optical continue to distribute Cazal in the United States.
