Latest News Bausch + Lomb Announces Licensing Agreement With Tangible Science for Use of Custom Contact Lens Coating Technology By Staff Wednesday, June 27, 2018 12:18 AM BRIDGEWATER, N.J.—Bausch + Lomb, a leading global eye health company, announced that it has entered into a worldwide licensing agreement with Tangible Science, LLC, a company whose mission is to create technologies that improve the contact lens wearing experience. As part of the agreement, Bausch + Lomb will offer the Tangible Science Hydra-PEG advanced contact lens coating technology for use with several of its Boston gas permeable (GP) materials and scleral lenses through its Specialty Vision Products business.“We are pleased to enter this agreement with Tangible Science to further strengthen and enhance our growing portfolio of custom contact lenses,” said John Ferris, general manager, U.S. Vision Care, Bausch + Lomb. “We understand that every patient is different and are committed to providing innovative solutions to eyecare professionals that help meet more of their patients’ unique vision care needs.” Tangible Hydra-PEG is a high water polymer coating that is bonded to the surface of a contact lens. It has been shown to improve wettability, increase surface water retention and lubricity, and minimize deposits on various lens materials, B+L said.“The response to Tangible Hydra-PEG has been exceptional from eyecare professionals, who are looking for ways to better address comfort for their patients who wear custom lenses,” said Vic McCray, chief executive officer, Tangible Science. “They have encouraged us to expand options for their patients who require custom lenses, and this new relationship with Bausch + Lomb will allow us to respond to that demand through their broad portfolio and distribution network.”The Tangible Hydra-PEG advanced contact lens coating technology is expected to be available with several of Bausch + Lomb’s Boston GP materials, including Boston XO, Boston XO2, Boston EO, and Boston ES along with the Zenlens and Zen RC scleral lenses by the end of this year. In addition to the Tangible Hydra-PEG contact lens coating, Tangible Science is developing a family of products that leverage the technology, including a contact lens cleaner, coating “rejuvenator” and a line of disposable lenses.
