NEW YORK—Two optical technology companies, Smart Vision Labs and IrisVision, have been named as finalists in the UCSF Health Awards. The annual competition honors outstanding health technologies and innovations dramatically transforming health care. The companies were selected among hundreds of applicants. Smart Vision Labs was named as a finalist in the New Application in Telehealth category. The company’s smartphone-based wavefront refraction technology expands access to eye exams and reduces cost. “We are incredibly proud to be selected as a finalist in the Telehealth category,” said Yaopeng Zhou, CEO of Smart Vision Labs.

“Winning this award will help us to get our solution into more retail locations and deliver better vision to millions of Americans who don’t have vision insurance, but can significantly improve their life quality.”

IrisVision was named as a finalist in the Consumer Wellness category. The company’s wearable smart device opens up accessibility and remote support for people with low vision anywhere in the world. The device has the ability to personalize its functionality to each user’s specific vision conditions.

The UCSF Health Awards are the Oscars of the health tech industry, awarding the best new products and technologies in digital health and now life sciences. There are over 300 judges who are industry leaders in the digital health and life sciences industries. The Grand Finale crowns 17 winners from thousands of submissions, amplifying their reach through UCSF's extensive network of health care innovation centers, venture capital firms, industry experts and prior award winners.
 
The winner will be crowned with over 10,000+ virtual/live attendees consisting of the biggest health care VCs, start-up incubators, accelerators, physicians, hospital systems, UCSF leadership, government officials, and others at the Grand Finale Show on October 7.
