Anthony Fauci, MD, the chief White House medical adviser, has called on China to release information about nine people who got sick with a COVID-like illness before the coronavirus began spreading around the world—six miners who went into a bat cave in 2012 and three Wuhan lab workers in late 2019.

In an interview with The Financial Times, Fauci said the information could help determine the origin of the coronavirus and resolve allegations the virus leaked from a lab in Wuhan before spreading around the world.

"I would like to see the medical records of the three people who are reported to have got sick in 2019," he said in the interview. "Did they really get sick, and if so, what did they get sick with?
