VM brings you the latest information from optical companies and organizations responding to the coronavirus. As part of ongoing initiatives to help support eyecare in the wake of COVID-19, Johnson & Johnson Vision has announced donations to Optometry Cares – The American Optometric Association (AOA) Foundation and the American Academy of Optometry Foundation (AAOF). The combined total of the donations is $320,000, the company said. As an AOA Recovery Partner, Johnson & Johnson Vision will make a donation to Optometry Cares, the charitable Foundation of the AOA, optometry’s premier philanthropic and charitable organization committed to expanding eye health and vision care access to everyone in the U.S. in order to enhance human performance and quality of life.

The donation will provide financial support to practitioners uniquely impacted by COVID-19 and help ensure eyecare remains available in the wake of COVID-19.

Johnson & Johnson Vision is also making a donation to the AAOF to support their efforts in procuring and distributing masks to practitioners and schools of optometry in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada.

“The situation with COVID-19 has had a profound impact across many facets of eyecare,” said Dr. Charissa Lee, Head, North America professional affairs at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care. “We have been listening to needs of eyecare community of professionals in the wake of COVID-19, and we remain committed to sustaining our partnership and helping to lead the way as practices and schools of optometry safely emerge stronger than ever before to serve patients.”

The company is also continuing its Prioritize Your Eyes campaign to raise awareness worldwide about the connection of eye health to overall health. Prioritize Your Eyes encourages everyone to take the single most important step to protect their eyes—getting an eye exam—and is part of the company’s ongoing commitment and collaboration with various partners and professional organizations to elevate eye health.
