RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.—VSP Vision announced April Bettencourt, vice president of global employee benefits, was named a winner of the Teladoc Health Forum 2023 Transformational Leadership Award. The award, presented annually at Teladoc Health’s Forum event, honors individuals who demonstrate bold leadership and an unwavering commitment to excellence in driving the adoption of virtual care to help transform health care delivery. “VSP Vision is extremely fortunate to have April’s leadership and expertise in the benefits arena,” said VSP Vision chief human resources officer Kristi Cappelletti-Matthews.

“She's been our ‘north star’ consistently guiding, advising, developing and executing benefit strategies and initiatives through complex times, while ensuring alignment with our enterprise values and the diverse benefits needs of our workforce and their families. Teladoc Health’s recognition of her as a transformational leader is so very fitting, and I couldn’t be prouder that April represents VSP as an honoree of this prestigious award,” Cappelletti-Matthews said.

With a career spanning more than 30 years in human resources, Bettencourt leads strategic benefits initiatives at VSP Vision where she oversees the implementation of employee health and wellness programs, workers' compensation and disability management programs. She is a champion for holistic health and has implemented several successful initiatives that promote the mental and physical well being of VSP Vision’s more than 14,000 employees.

According to the company, Bettencourt’s dedication to enhancing the patient employee experience led to VSP Vision's decision to expand their virtual care benefit offering from standalone chronic condition programs to Teladoc Health’s comprehensive Chronic Condition Management solution in January 2023. Her continued commitment to driving the adoption of virtual care through bold leadership has earned Bettencourt the honor of being recognized as a Teladoc Health Forum Transformational Leadership Award winner.
