BALTIMORE, Md.—Versant Health, a leading national managed vision care company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of MetLife (NYSE: MET), recently announced the expansion of their leadership team to include Alan Hirschberg as executive vice president of provider network, supply chain, and underwriting, and Brian Sciortino as senior vice president of operations. Hirschberg brings three decades of dental and vision experience to Versant Health, the company noted. His position will be effective May 9, according to the company.

Hirschberg, who has worked for more than 30 years in the dental and vision benefits sector, where he most recently led MetLife’s U.S. Group Supplemental Health Products, which includes dental, vision, accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, and health savings and spending accounts. In addition to overseeing product strategy and development, network contracting, compliance and performance, he served as the MetLife business lead for the Versant Health acquisition.

Hirschberg also previously worked in Aetna’s dental division as senior vice president – dental and vision, where he was responsible for dental and vision product performance. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Boston University.
 
Sciortino brings  27 years of product, operations and service claims experience in the group benefit and insurance space to Versant Health. He previously served as vice president of operations in MetLife’s global technology and operations organization, where he was responsible for strategic, tactical, and operational oversight for Group Benefit claim and service operations.

He will lead Versant Health’s customer service call centers, claims, benefits management, enrollment and eligibility, client implementation organizations, and shared services.

MetLife completed the acquisition of Versant Heath in January 2021, as VMAIL reported following the announcement of the deal for Versant, which owns the Davis Vision and Superior Vision managed care businesses, in September 2020.
