Close Up: Developed for large labs seeking speed and efficiency, Agility is the fastest automated deblocking system on the market, capable of deblocking over 200 lenses per hour, according to Coburn Technologies. “The new Agility Autodeblocker completes our automated post-polishing product offering. When combined with our Duality De-Taper & Cleaner, and our award-winning Velocity Lens Coater, our customers can fully automate the post-polishing process,” said Coburn Technologies president Alex Incera. “Lenses can be deblocked, de-taped, cleaned and coated in minutes without operator involvement.”

Agility is ideal for high volume labs that prefer a convenient automated solution. Both lenses are automatically removed from a job tray, placed onto the appropriate deblocking rings, and then deblocked simultaneously using a mechanical action. Contrary to deblocking with powerful water jets that displace alloy, causes alloy waste, and produce contaminated water waste, Agility separates the lens from the block, without water, in one clean, swift, mechanical action.

“The name ‘Agility’ embodies our goals for the capabilities of the machine; rapidity, resilience and boldness,” Incera explained. The technology is also versatile in its ability to process a wide range of lens geometries and ring diameters.

Close Up: The new 4RacerTBA Swift features unparalleled automatic inspection abilities and fast self controlled edging process, with the smallest physical and environmental footprint of the market.

With its new control unit and the new lens loading program, the 4RacerTBA Swift improves further the already unmatched productivity of the 4RacerTBA, being able now to edge up to 200 lenses/hour, processing eight lenses at the same time with extreme quality and precision. The machine performs all needed quality inspection tasks, analyzing 100 percent of the production, to guarantee the MEI Total Quality Control. Before edging, the built-in inspection instruments (including a multipoint Shack-Hartmann focometer) assure the automatic precise measurement of all optical parameter. After edging, with the 4QC Inspection System, it is possible to verify lens power, centering, axis, size and circumference, allowing to certify that every lens meets required specifications in terms of optical parameters and shaping processes.

Vital Stats: The new features of the 4RacerTBA Swift include the Glide Meter, a slipperiness measurement before edging to optimize speed and precision and the Silver Polishing, a new polishing process that guarantees higher quality and brilliance. A new Temperature Stabilizer improves the performance of the machine even in adverse environmental conditions; the machine now has new milling tools, with innovative materials and treatments to improve quality.
