(L to R) Stephen Lake and Mark Pappas
NEW YORK—Mark Pappas, an expert in healthcare marketing and branding and Stephen Lake, the CEO of a fast rising smart glasses startup, will offer their unique perspectives on the dynamics of new technologies and consumer behavior at the Vision Monday Global Leadership Summit program, “The Future of Healthcare: Beyond 2020.” Pappas is senior vice president, growth & innovation, CMI/Compas, one of the largest healthcare media and marketing agencies in the U.S. He is a catalyst within CMI/Compas to spark and drive innovation forward.

Pappas is responsible for bringing new and unique opportunities to clients and works alongside partners to create new offerings, keeping on the cutting edge of technology, media and advertising. He has been responsible for many firsts for the pharma marketing industry while at CMI/Compas, stemming from his strong relationships with leading emerging media companies and pharma clients paired with his early-adopter mentality and passion for technology.

At the VM Summit, Pappas will talk about how new technologies and trends in social media are changing how patients expect to hear from brands, which offers many opportunities for healthcare brands to form deeper relationships with their key customers. People consume healthcare information via their screens and voice assistants, and it’s important for a brand to be where they are. In this presentation, Pappas will share examples and top-line case studies of the unique ways healthcare brands are communicating today.

Lake is the co-founder and CEO of North, a smart glass startup. A natural-born entrepreneur, Lake started his first company at the age of 12. Later, he focused on hardware during his time at the University of Waterloo where he studied as a Loran Scholar, and on robotics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich).

Under Lake’s leadership, North has grown to more than 200 employees, dozens of patent filings, $170 million in venture funding from world-class investors such as Amazon Alexa Fund, Intel Capital, and is now looking toward building the future of eyewear with its newest product, Focals 2.0, which is set to launch later this year.
