RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.—VSP Vision has been named a 2022 Best Company for Multicultural Women by Seramount, one of the largest and most comprehensive providers of diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) services. Recognition from Seramount applauds U.S. companies that create and use best practices in hiring, retaining and promoting multicultural women. “VSP remains committed to fostering a collaborative, supportive environment in which all of our employees are engaged and empowered to reach their full potential,” said VSP Vision chief diversity officer Marvin Davenport.

“We are honored to be recognized by Seramount for our progress in creating a culture of belonging.”

Providing opportunities to grow personally and professionally are critical elements in VSP’s strategy to increase diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I), the company said in a statement. For example, the company:

  • Graduated the first cohort of a new professional development program designed to provide promising talent with additional training on leadership, business acumen and networking to prepare them for future leadership roles.

  • Partnered with Black EyeCare Perspective on an Eyes of Hope mobile clinic at HBCU Florida A&M University where VSP employees provided students with access to vision care and information about careers in optometry.

  • Recently launched the “Celebrate-Educate-Participate” module to help encourage leaders to share and discuss topical, timely DE&I content with their teams.
Since 2003, Seramount has been tracking U.S. corporations’ progress in creating workplace cultures that encourage multicultural women to join their companies and serve in leadership roles. This year’s survey continued to assess progress for women by specific racial/ethnic group, as well as factors influencing that progress, including mental health and anti-racism progress, and mentoring and sponsorship participation.
