BARCELONA, Spain—Horizons Optical, a Barcelona-based international R&D company focused on the development and distribution of technology for the optical industry, has established a U.S. subsidiary, Horizons Optical of America (HOA). Based in Lewisville, Texas, HOA will reinforce customer and commercial attention and provide technology and services to customers throughout the U.S., Latin America and Canada. Horizons said it grew by 40 percent in 2021, nearly doubling the number of prescription laboratories it does business with. The company is investing significantly to penetrate the U.S. market.

During 2022 Horizons plans to install its technologies in at least 50 optical laboratories, raising its total laboratory base in the U.S. to more than 65 locations.

Ulises Pérez will be responsible for HOA’s technical customer support department, and Albert Pogorschelske will lead its commercial team. Both are experienced optical industry professionals. They will be supported by a multi-disciplinary team that will offer advanced equipment in lens design and coating analysis.
