JIAXING, CHINA—East Optical, one of the principal ophthalmic lens manufacturers in China, announced the opening of East Optical Mexico SA de CV to strengthen its position in the Mexican market. This announcement represents an additional strategic step in East Optical’s expansion into new markets, coming two months after East Optical’s announcement of the formation of East Optical Americas Inc. in Charlotte, North Carolina and signing a co-distribution agreement with Symcon Vision Inc. as reported in VMAIL.

“We believe in the future of Mexico, and the potential of both the Mexican and Latin American markets, which is why we opened East Optical Mexico to offer optical laboratories and distributors a local inventory of first quality ophthalmic lenses with immediate delivery,” said Tony Brea, board member of the new company. “This new organization is part of a broader strategy that started with the creation of an expert team that understands and is passionate about the Latin America market, opening new distribution offices, and implementing new distribution models to efficiently serve Latin America, the Caribbean, the United States and Canada.”

East Optical Mexico SA de CV’s leadership team includes board members, Olive Su, Jason Frank, Brea, and local Mexican directors. The primary products to be offered include ophthalmic lenses, both finished and semi-finished, in clear, photochromic, blue light filter, polarized, and anti-reflective treatment all of which will be available in a wide range of materials and indexes.
